Gilbert J. (Butch) Haas, Jr.
Butch was born and raised in Marin County, CA. Graduated from Marin Catholic High School and then graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration-Accounting. Started working for the State of California Board of Equalization (BOE) as an auditor.
Worked for the BOE for 32+ years. Promoted up through the ranks at the BOE working in numerous districts and divisions. Was appointed by the Board of Equalization members to the Career Executive position of Chief, Investigations and Special Operations Divisions. As Chief, managed a division with responsibilities including overseeing criminal investigations, budget management, legislative development and analysis, as well as, working jointly with other states and federal agencies. He was a member of the Federation of Tax Administrators (FTA) serving in the positions of Vice Chair and Chairman for the tobacco tax section during his career.
After retirement from the state in 2011, he and his wife moved to Mt. Shasta to start a new chapter in their lives and be closer to the grandkids. He enjoys playing golf and working on projects around the house.
